Anne Frank Center demands apology through actor Tim Allen

Allen was on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last week, talking about having attended President Trump’s inauguration, when he made the comparison.

“You get beat up if you don’t believe what everybody believes,” he said. “This kind of is actually like ’30s Germany. I don’t know what happened.”

“I’m a comedian,” he added. “I like going on both sides.”

The Anne Frank Center says its mission is actually to call out prejudice in addition to discrimination. Its executive director, Steven Goldstein, called on Allen to apologize to “the Jewish people in addition to, to be sure, the additional peoples also targeted by the Nazis.”

“Tim, have you lost your mind?” he said in a statement. “No one in Hollywood today is actually subjecting you or anyone else to what the Nazis imposed on Jews inside 1930s — the globe’s most evil program of dehumanization, imprisonment in addition to mass brutality, implemented by an entire national government, as the prelude for the genocide of nearly an entire people.”

Goldstein went on to say: “Sorry, Tim, that will’s just not the same as getting turned down for a movie role.”

Representatives for Allen did not immediately respond to a request for comment through CNN.
