WALLER COUNTY, Texas- A woman from the Brookshire area will be accused of sending explosives to three government leaders in 2016.
According to the six-count indictment, 46-year-old Julia Poff mailed explosives to Governor Greg Abbott, President Barack Obama as well as also Commissioner of the Social Security Administration Carolyn Colvin on Oct. 12, 2016.
different court documents say Gov. Abbott opened the package, although the item failed to explode because he didn’t open the item right. If opened correctly, documents say “the item could’ve caused severe burns as well as also death.”
She was allegedly upset with Gov. Abbott for not receiving support by her ex-husband.
Federal investigators say they were able to connect Poff to the packages using pieces of the shipping labels, as well as also also matched cat hair found from the box mailed to President Obama with her cat.
Poff has been charged with Injurious Articles as Nonmailable as well as also Transportation of Explosives with the Intent to Kill as well as also Injure for the crimes against the government officials.
She has also been charged with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Fraud as well as also False Declaration in Bankruptcy.
